Fans loved Jamie Lee Curtis in the classic horror thriller Halloween movies in the 80s. Now, we have received the official confirmation that the iconic actress is going to reprise the role of Laurie Strode in Blumhouse’s Halloween reboot movie. Jamie Lee Curtis starred in several sequels of John Carpenter‘s original horror classic back in the days and is officially returning again for the highly-anticipated Halloween reboot once again as indicated in the photo Blumhouse just released. However, she’s not the only one making the return. The legendary John Carpenter will be coming back too, as the executive producer of the Halloween reboot movie. Pineapple Express’ director David Gordon Green will direct as well as co-write the Halloween reboot movie with his longtime friend and associate, Danny McBride (Alien: Covenant). The report also includes the official release date of the Halloween reboot movie:
“You’ve been asking for updates on Halloween, well, we’ve got one! Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode in Halloween, released by Universal Pictures on October 19, 2018.#HalloweenMovie”
This official announcement also indicates that the new movie may simply be titled, Halloween just like the original 1978 classic. Some of the previous reports teased that the upcoming Halloween movie will not reboot the entire franchise but definitely ignore the events occurred in the later sequels. Now since Jamie Lee Curtis is officially returning as Laurie Strode, those speculations are almost confirmed. Her character was unceremoniously killed by the demented Michael Myers in 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection but it’s obvious that the new movie will tell a different story.
Official Synopsis
Blumhouse also revealed the Halloween movie’s brief synopsis which almost guarantees that Jamie’s Laurie Strode and Michael Myers will go up against each other in an epic final battle:
“Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”
It has been 40 years since the franchise pioneering Halloween hit theaters back in 1978. Fans loved the first couple of sequels but the following ones did more harm to the franchise’s popularity than good. The news of Jamie Lee Curtis coming back to presumably conclude the unfinished business with the psychopathic killer is just what the Halloween franchise and fans need. There are reports that Halloween movie will start production early next year so we’ll be hearing more casting news soon. Stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
