Director Matt Reeves has unveiled the first tidbits of info on the upcoming film ‘The Batman Part II’, which is currently expected to arrive in theaters sometime in 2026, saying the film is going to “dig into the epic story” of Gotham City, according to SFX Magazine.
Reeves teased that the film will go in directions that fans won’t expect: “It’s going to dig into the epic story about deeper corruption and it goes into places he couldn’t even anticipate in the first one” he said.
Reeves added that the film will “never go full fantastical” in terms of how some of Batman’s villains and characters are portrayed, which has been some of the fan criticism in prior Batman fans, specifically in the George Clooney led project, that got a little bit too goofy.
“What was important to me was to find a way to take these pop icons, these mythic characters that everybody knows, and translate it so that Gotham feels like a place in our world … It’s meant to feel quite grounded,” Reeves said.
While the full cast has yet to be announced, Robert Pattison is set to make his return as Batman in the new film.
